Matthew Whatley (BSc, MChiro, DC, Doctor of Chiropractic)
Matthew originally studied Biochemistry at Coventry University, graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He subsequently became interested in business management and began a 12-year career in marketing. He decided to become a Chiropractor following a sporting injury for which he received Chiropractic treatment. He freely admits: “At that time, I didn’t know what Chiropractors did, but visited a Chiropractor on my GP’s suggestion. After a few weeks of treatment, I was able to return to my training schedule, pain free, and with advice on how to prevent further injury. I decided there and then that if I ever had the opportunity, I would study to become a Chiropractor.”
That opportunity happened a few years later. Like many British and European Chiropractors, Matthew followed a five-year academic and clinical training programme at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) in Bournemouth. He was a direct entrant into the second year of the course and graduated with a master’s degree in Chiropractic and was granted a DC by the European Chiropractors Union. He is registered with the General Chiropractic Council and a member of the British Chiropractic Association.
Matthew has an interest in sports injuries and rehabilitation. He has studied and trained in Western Acupuncture with the British Medical Acupuncture Society.
Alison Templeman (MChiro, Doctor of Chiropractic)
Alison was born in Oxford and grew up in the South West of England where she spent most of her formative years in and out of the saddle (both horse and motorbike). She says: “Chiropractic has been part of my life since I was small, after Chiropractic enabled my father to walk unaided after being resigned to life in a wheelchair.
After several years working in corporate business in Central London, I wanted to study something for myself that I could use to help others the way I have been helped. After studying Massage part-time, whilst also working, it was suggested by my Chiropractor that I study Chiropractic and, after 5 years of study, I graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic with a Masters of Chiropractic degree.
My family and I passionately believe in Chiropractic. We are keen gardeners, cooks, and world travellers (I am also a confirmed petrol head, but minus the oily hands), and benefit from regular adjustments which enable us to get the best out of working and spending our spare time doing what we want to do. I continue to study new advances made within the profession as Chiropractic has opened up a world of opportunities to me, and if I can make a difference to someone’s life and help keep them doing the things they want to do, then all my study will have been worth it!
I am excited to be part of the amazing team at Burnham Chiropractic Surgery; we are passionate about health and ensuring you receive the very best of care to enable you to continue doing what you want to do in life for as long as you want to do it!”
